The overview

What it is, and why it matters.

Pavers sink when the base under them washes out, settles or was never compacted. Simply topping up the joints does not fix it. We lift the affected pavers and set them aside, repair the base and bedding layer, re-lay the pavers level and compact them and restore the joint sand. The same pavers are reused, so color and pattern match.

In Nashville and across Tennessee, common causes are poor drainage, tree roots, utility trenches and heavy vehicles on thin bases. We fix the cause where we can, by redirecting a downspout or adding drainage, so the repair lasts. If edges have drifted, we reset the restraints too.

Good questions

Paver Repair and Releveling: common questions

Why are my pavers sinking?

Usually the base underneath has washed out, settled or was too thin or poorly compacted. Water is the most common culprit.

Can you reuse my existing pavers?

Yes, nearly always. We lift, clean and re-lay them, and add matching pavers only where some are broken.
