Done with washouts. Upgrade gravel to asphalt.
Convert a gravel or dirt driveway into a smooth asphalt surface, using your existing stone where it is sound and adding base where it is not.
- Base: Existing stone tested and topped up
- Grade: Crown and drainage corrected
- Surface: 2 to 3 in. hot-mix asphalt

What it is, and why it matters.
Gravel driveways wash out, rut and need constant raking. Converting to asphalt gives you a smooth, dust-free surface that plows and sweeps easily. The key is the base: we test what is already there, add and compact stone where it is thin or soft, set the crown and drainage and then pave.
In the Nashville area, many gravel drives have a decent stone base already, which can reduce the cost of the conversion. We regrade, correct low spots and check that water leaves the surface before the asphalt goes down. The result is a driveway that looks and performs like a new one, without starting from bare dirt.

Gravel to Asphalt Conversion: common questions
Can you pave over my existing gravel?
Often yes, if the stone base is thick, firm and well drained. We test it and add or replace stone where needed so the asphalt has a solid foundation.
Is asphalt better than gravel?
Asphalt is smoother, dust-free and easier to maintain, though gravel costs less up front. Many owners upgrade after washouts and constant regrading.
